Monroe was flown there on Frank Sinatra’s plane as a cover for the visit of Peter and Pat Kennedy Lawford two weeks before MM’s death. A “summit” was arranged to iron out a conflict over ownership of the lodge. Complicating matters is that ex-husband Joe DiMaggio became an investor in Cal-Neva in June 1962 as a front for mob interests.
