Mandy was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She comes from hearty stock and believes she knows exactly what her future holds. Without much trepidation, she meets and marries the love of her life and embarks on her plan to reach the ultimate goal: motherhood. A series of unexpected trials get in the way; a cheating husband, a porn addicted lover, unexpected miscarriages, and finally the reality that she was unprepared for - that motherhood is nothing like she’d dreamed.
We follow Mandy through her journey into the darkness and depth of depression, her resistance to life and the struggles that occur, to the humbling moment where she tells her husband, “I am not okay.” Then, just as she’s finally on the path to figuring out how and where to find joy (hint: the answer lies within), her youngest son drowns in a terrible accident. The world shatters and she is torn apart. Step by step, we walk alongside her as she puts her life back together again and watch as her loss and subsequent healing become a roadmap for navigating grief, finding peace, and cultivating a deep, unrelenting joy.
