He sees her. He wants her. He keeps her. The castle rises from the fog like an apparition, a nightmare. Snow clings to the towers, crumbling and decrepit, resembling misshapen ghouls, while hundreds of windows stare out onto the white-carpeted land like lifeless eyes.
