In her spare time, she posed for photographs and paintings, rode in cars, chased balls around, swam, ate and slept. She was a friend to everyone and a very good dog. In the summer of 2024, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer common to retrievers. She underwent life-saving surgery. For seven months, Lucy was alive and well, and enjoying her favorite activities. In April 2025, the cancer returned and Lucy died, surrounded by the people who loved her the most.
