Have you ever felt overwhelmed by classroom chaos? Do the students seem to make demands without considering how others may be impacted? Or do they ask so much of you that it seems that they will never gain independence skills? Is incentivising and having "carrots" to motivate students not working and creating stress?
For many educators and administrators, such situations lead to burnout and leaving the profession, rather than finding the joy in being that "one person" who helps a students succeed. This book helps educators find that joy again through strategies designed to find BALANCE for themselves and their students. As students learn to be both independent AND connected to others, engagement increases and fosters a learning mindset...with less headache for educators!
This book is unique in that the authors have expertise in psychology AND education, which creates a unique perspective on both learning and child development. By combining the two, the authors are able to present strategies that work from K-12. These skills that create BALANCE in the classroom can be incorporated into the classroom management already in place in the district, school, or classroom. AND the authors share ways to use AI or other worksheets, curriculum, or strategies within the context of their guide.
Through the use of an analogy of "mapping your route to balance," the authors help youth of all ages find their path to balance. The road may not always be smooth, but students learn how "tapping the B.R.A.K.E.S" can help them learn from their choices and grow with their personal compass. In doing so, they also learn the impact of their decisions on others and how to use that information in decision making. The goal is for them to use their curiosity and learning mindset to find their version of independence AND connection that is best for them.
